La Chambre et l'assermentation des Grands-Ducs

As part of the swearing-in ceremony of HRH Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg at the Chamber of Deputies, the Service d’histoire parlementaire (parliamentary history service) designed eight information panels on the swearing-in ceremonies of the Grand Dukes at the Chamber from a historical perspective.

The eight panels present the oaths taken by the sovereigns of the Netherlands who reigned over the Grand Duchy in accordance with Article 67 of the Acts of the Congress of Vienna, as well as Grand Dukes Adolphe, Guillaume IV, Marie-Adélaïde, Charlotte, Jean and Henri, as well as that of the ‘Lieutenant-Représentant’ Prince Guillaume in 2024.

The panels will initially be displayed in the windows of the Maison Wiltheim passageway shortly before National Day until the day of Prince Guillaume's oath of office in October 2025. An extension may be possible before they are exhibited at the Chamber of Deputies visitor centre.

Through this exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the oaths of office from the perspective of Parliament, with archive images, illustrations and the texts of the oaths taken, with a few rare exceptions, in the plenary hall of the Hôtel de la Chambre.
