The EU in the work of parliamentary committees

For European legislative acts that have been and will be transposed by the Chamber of Deputies, please refer to the ‘Current Business’ section.

Organisation of work

The Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Cooperation, Immigration and Asylum mainly deals with European issues of a general nature or issues for which it is specifically responsible. It examines the list of official European documents from the European institutions, sent for analysis to the Chamber’s various sectoral committees.

Document analysis

The European documents are submitted to the various sectoral committees according to their responsibilities.

They examine the documents and advise where necessary.
Before and after each Council meeting is held, the parliamentary committee may invite the minister responsible for the matter to inform the members of the committee of the government’s position. The parliamentary committee may also, at any time, invite a representative of the European Commission or the European Parliament to take part in a meeting.

Conference on the Future of Europe

The ‘Future of Europe’ sub-committee of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Cooperation, Immigration and Asylum was maintained beyond the work of the Conference on the Future of Europe. This made it possible to provide political follow-up for the conclusions drawn by the conference.
