Members of the Administration

Helping Deputies fulfill their missions.

The parliamentary administration serves the Chamber of Deputies, the deputies and democracy. Through its impartial action and the commitment of its officials, it helps the institution to perform its constitutional prerogatives and ensure its democratic legitimacy.

The parliamentary administration thus contributes to the visibility and accessibility of the Chamber of Deputies, which it supports in its legislative and political functions. The 60 deputies can thus count on the support of over 165 officials and salaried employees.

The members of the parliamentary administration serve citizens, as their task is to ensure that the deputies, the representatives of the people, can carry out their duties. They are responsible for a wide variety of tasks: organising parliamentary committees, supporting parliamentary diplomacy efforts between deputies and international actors, ensuring the good functioning of the infrastructure of the Chamber of Deputies, and informing the public and media outlets, the legislative work carried out on a daily basis, by providing any clarifications required about the legislative procedure, as well as political challenges and debates.

The parliamentary administration is a dynamic organisation that is constantly looking for ways to best meet the challenges that arise. For example, some recent changes include the reorganisation of the information technology department, the creation of a legal drafting department, as well as the creation of a scientific unit.

A historic workplace

The iconic seat of the Chamber of Deputies is Hôtel de la Chambre, where the public sessions take place, during which laws are debated and voted upon.

The Chamber administration has some 130 members of staff. In order to house them, it occupies two other buildings on ‘Krautmaart’ (rue du Marché aux Herbes), in the direct vicinity of the grand-ducal palace. It is in these exceptional historic surroundings that the large majority of the members of the parliamentary administration work.
